Cylons vs. the Borg
By Sparky | February 6, 2006
This weekend was ever so slightly sci-fi laden. Saturday was lost to a Battlestar Galactica marathon at Jasons. Brien and I met up with Jason, Jake, and Tres and spent the majority of the day watching the miniseries, and much of season 1. Much fun was had by all, and (as no surprise to any of us) the Cylons won the day.
Sunday was much more solitary and relaxed for me. I have just acquired Star Trek Voyager and had my own little marathon delving deep into the world of Captain Janeway as she troops across space with her rag-tag group of Star Fleet misfits.
Talk about geeky excitement. Somehow I really don’t want to have to finish getting dressed and go into work today, the idea of sitting around and consuming more Voyager is ever so much more tempting!

Cylons, both the mecha-organic, the old models and new warrior models lack individual force fields. that is the x-factor. Secondly, the Cylon are sentient beings that should have a goal of either conquering other sentient beings or traveling the cosmos as the silver surfer studying the vastness of space and evolving further. Their flaw is this desire to merge or replace mankind. They are wasting their time focusing on the wrong thing which makes them weak. Third, the Borg don’t have feelings or emotions, which hampers the humanoid cylons. Fourth, the Borg have teleportation technology. Cylons don’t have shielding systems that block teleportation technology. Once a battalion of ten Borg enter a Cylon base ship, they will overtake a section and begin the absorption process. Once Borg, via a self force field will destroy probably ten to fifteen cylons. Any mechahumanoid cylons will be absorbed, adding to the power of the Borg hive with artificial blood, lungs, heart, etc. This is a massacre. The only hope is that Cylons can use an Independence Day trick and create a virus that attacks the Borg systems and get around the “adaptation technology.” I doubt it. Borg are designed to conquer, Cylon are designed to examine and then destroy, if need be.
